Guess - When asked to give a reason for a prediction he or she answers, "I don't know." or any other answer that isn't based on a previous observation.

Makes a prediction based on a previous observation. When asked to give a reason for a prediction his or her answer includes a previous observation(s) as the basis of the predition.

Can explain the difference between a prediction and a guess.

Predicts based on observation. Can distinguish between predictions that are sensible, possible, plausible, and certain.

Can explain the difference between a prediction and inference.

Knows when it is appropriate to predict and what specific quantitative or qualitative data is needed to make a prediction, can identify the data sources, explain the reasoning for a prediction, and estimate the probability.

Will look for additional observations to refine predictions' accuracy.

Can predict relationships, extrapolations, and interpolation.
